Contest Time - Unknown Cowboy and Write Now

Lou Turner, my good friend and the publisher of High Hill Press, has a contest going on over at her Cactus Country blog.

This photo on the left of an unknown cowboy sits on her desk, and she wants writers to send her stories about him.

As an incentive, the winning story will be published in Cactus Country Volume II.

The winner will also receive five copies of the anthology.

No entry fee.

Deadline for submissions is November 30, 2011.

Visit the Cactus Country blog for complete details.

Good luck if you enter, and please give this cowboy a name!

If you're not into writing about cowboys, here's a giveaway contest for you. Karen over at Write Now has a giveaway as she approaches her 300th follower. Stop by to enter.

  3. How interesting as I would like to have those 5 copies to share westerns with folks around here. Think the Cowboys and Aliens will arouse a western out of all of us? I am on my way to the shower where I hope inspiration will flow out the faucet!

  4. What a great way to work with your writing to enter this. I have never tried writing western but I think I may give it a try. I appreciate you so much for coming by and giving me such good advice.
I am really looking forward to getting to know you better because my love for writing has been locked away so long and I am trying to let it out so hopefully sites and writers like yourself will be the muse I so need
    Love

  6. Donna, I have been thinking about this all afternoon. Finally sat down and began. It is so amazing that once an idea begins to form it just goes its own route like a mouse turned loose in a cheese factory. I can't control the thing! What fun, and since it is 107 but feels 112, writing is a good thing to do!

  7. Hey Claudia, don't tell me it's STILL that hot there!! We actually had "cool" temps today.
I am NOT a fiction writer, and definitely NOT a western, fiction writer....but you know what? I CAN write a story with a photo prompt, so count me in!! Thanks, Donna. I saw this over at the Cactus Country blog, too!

  8. Hi Claudia,
Good luck. Stay cool. We've had a respite to the heat, but it's fixing to heat up again over the weekend.

    Hi Carol,
    You're welcome.

    Hey Becky,
    Photos help me too.

  13. I watched the movie on Saturday where newlyweds, Lucy and Ricky, drove through the Rockies with a trailer hooked up to the back of their convertible. She took a big rock from everywhere they stopped because she was going to line her new driveway with them. Soon the trailer was so loaded down it wouldn't budge. I collect rocks from travels because of that movie. But I learned a lesson from Lucy and just pick up little ones. I bet if I thought about it, I learned a lot from Lucy.

    You are welcome.

    Hi Lou,
I bet we all learned a lot from Lucy.
