How appropriate that on Labor Day I'd planned to get some work done on my blog, visit some of my favorite blogs--and do some writing.
I decided that sharing some markets I've been wanting to submit to would be a good way to start the week.
Here are two calls for submission that go together--bread and soup:
St. Louis Bread Company, aka Panera Bread, is one of my favorite places to stop for a breakfast bagel (cinnamon crunch, bread sliced) or a nutritious lunch (1/2 Sierra Turkey or 1/2 Tuna Salad and 1/2 Greek Salad or Broccoli Cheddar Soup)--depending on the weather. So, I was happy to receive an e-mail from Panera Bread announcing a contest to win one of ten $25 gift cards just for telling them what I'm thankful for. Winning stories might also appear on TV. To read about the Panera Bread What I'm Thankful for Contest, click on this link.
Many of my visitors have been published in one or more Chicken Soup for the Soul books. If you're wanting to join them, or you have been in a Chicken Soup book and want to be in another issue, check out the possible book topics the editors have in mind. I especially like the call out for Holiday Stories. And did you notice that Chicken Soup for the Soul is going to start selling chicken soup soon?
Because both call for submissions today have to do with food, I thought I'd sign off, not only with Good Luck!, but also with:
Good Appetite! Guten Appetit! Bon Appetit! Buon Appetito!
P.S. If you have any markets to share, please do so in the Comments. Thanks!

ReplyDeleteThe "Not Your Mother's Book" series (www.publishingsyndicate.com) is looking for stories. Right now they're especially looking for stories "On Family," "On Mom," "On Mom-to-Be," "On Parenting" and "On Grandparenting." The stories should be a little edgier than CS stories, a bit snarkier...
ReplyDeleteThere is also dozens more titles they're working on. Payment could be monetary or in copies of the book...you choose.
Hi Tammy,
ReplyDeleteBread Co is one of my favorite restaurants. Thanks for the tip and link about Dream of Things.
Hi Sioux,
Thanks for the reminder about NYMB. I am going to post a separate call out for them. The editors have a lot of topics that interest me, and I bet they will interest other writers too!

Food topics on your blog this morning reminds me of a food related journal I want to try. Submission dates are Nov 15 to March 15...they want stories and poems related only to food or food themes. Check them out at: http://www.alimentumjournal.com/submissions
ReplyDeleteWriting is on my mind but I am not doing much of it...reading too many books instead. I want to do it all and can't!!!!
Hi Claudia,
DeleteThanks for the tip about the food-related publication.
And I know what you mean about reading. I love to read and can't leave home without a book.

Donna, thank you for always being generous with helpful information. Thank you, too, for your words of wisdom about keeping the pain private and sharing those parts that may help someone else.
ReplyDeleteHi Barb,
DeleteYou are welcome. Hope to see you soon.
Donna
Hi Barb,
DeleteI forgot to suggest to write down the painful emotions; that way you will feel a sense of relief but still keep them private.

Thanks Donna, I like the French Toast bagel that is bread sliced :-)... oh yeah, writing... guess I better get a move on with that!
ReplyDeleteHi Lynn,
DeleteFrench toast bagel sounds good. I'll have to try it out.
Donna
Great idea from Panera Bread. Hope you had a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tips. Sadly, we have no Bread Co. here in the middle of nowhere, so I'll have to stick with the Soup.
ReplyDeleteHi Sally,
ReplyDeleteThanks. It was a good one.
Hi Val,
Aww. How sad that you don't have a Bread Co. I thought they were located all over Missouri.
Donna
Thanks for the info Donna. I love Panera Bread! Yum!
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa,
