Happy New Year

Happy New Year!

It's hard to believe it's already 2015. The Christmas holiday seemed to whiz by, and after fighting a cold I'm just catching up. In fact, I'm late wishing everyone a happy new year, but I'm determined to get back on track.

At the end of last month I downloaded my writing planning calendar and have set my writing goals for 2015.

One new goal is that I've committed to journal each day in 2015. In the past I've journaled when I've traveled or at times in my life when I needed to record special or emotional events.  But this year I'm taking a structured approach.

Here's how I plan to stick to my journaling plan:

One page per day.
At the end of the day.
Journal and pen sit on the table next to the lamp that I turn off each night before turning in, so I won't forget to write.

After two days of success I think it might work.

How about you? Any new or improved goals for 2015?

  1. I am using the writing calendar you highlighted and have filled it with some general goals. I keep hoping my elusive retirement date is finally in the cards for 2015, which would free up a lot more time for writing.

Congrats on your CS acceptance, Donna. Looks like I'm in this one, too. Yay!

  3. I've tried many times to journal but always fall off the wagon so to speak. So has my mother in law. She always appreciated nice journals which I gave her several times for Christmas. I found most of them when we cleaned out the house. They all had positive fresh starts but fell off by February. Still I apprecaited her words. I made no new goals, only want to get back to existing ones with a steady and determined mind set. Glad to see your words here again...Happy New Year!

  4. I keep journals for nine grandchildren, but am behind and swore I would catch up over winter break. That hacking cold got the best of me, but I do believe your goal to journal daily is a good one. happy New year, Donna.

  6. Hi Pat,
Yay and congratulations back at you. Still waiting for the final, final word. ;-)

    Hi Val,
I hope I stick with it. Right now I'm taking it one page at a time.

    Hi Claudia,
How great that you gave your mother-in-law those journals and that at least she wrote down some of her thoughts. I think journaling takes dedication and discipline, and I hope I'll follow through.

    Hi Linda,
Wow! You are a wonder, woman! How do you do it all? Do you ever sleep?

    Hi Madeline,
Thanks for your wishes and for stopping by to visit.

  7. Happy New Year Donna! I'm a terrible journal keeper, though I understand the benefits. Maybe this will be my year for it.

  8. Happy New Year Donna! You're not as late as I am... just blogged today. Glad to hear that you are journaling. I journal every day... first by writing down any dreams, then I do this little spiritual writing exercise, then I babble. My niece bought me a journal to focus on "core desired feelings" and so that's now included in my daily journaling and of course, I decided to sketch daily in another journal that was a gift. And top that all off, I've decided to write a letter a day for the entire year. Geez, what was I thinking?

  9. Happy New Year! I am tardy on wishing everyone well but the sentiment is still heartfelt. Good luck on your journal-ing. I have not new resolutions but Logan will graduate in December and I resolve to seeing that happen and remaining sane in the process! Wishing you many blessings in the new year!!

  10. One of the best writing exercises I've used involved journalling three pages. You just made me realize one might end up being more because of the increased likelihood that I'll stick with it. Happy New Year!

  11. Happy New Year, Donna! Great post, and love your journaling goal. One of my resolutions this year is to take stock of one single moment every day, to just sit alone with myself, pay attention to breathing, to notice what I see, hear, and feel in that one moment. Just to kind of slow things down a little! Sounds like a silly goal, but I'm trying to not feel so rushed all the time. So fun to see you before Christmas, even if we both were in the midst of last minute shopping.

  12. One of my resolutions was to keep up regularly with my inbox and blogs.

    So...yeah. A wee bit behind already. :-)

(Hope you're doing better with your journaling!)
