Merry Christmas to "Santa Wore Cowboy Boots" Commenters --You All Are Winners

Thanks to everyone who left a comment on my post and asked for their names to be put in the hat to win a copy of my story "Santa Wore Cowboy Boots" which appeared in A Cup of Comfort for Christmas. In the spirit of Christmas, I decided that rather than just selecting a few names at random I would send a copy of the story to each person who left a comment.

So the winners are

 Bookie (Claudia)
Sally
Linda
Sioux
Melissa
Val
Janet
Carol

If you all will e-mail me at dvolkenannt (at) charter.net with your name and mailing address I will get your copy in the mail right away.

Merry Christmas, and thanks for continuing to visit my blog and sharing your thoughts and encouraging me to continue writing.

  2. Donna--

Not only are you a gifted writer, but your titles are always intriguing. The story in the Storm Country anthology was wonderful, and the title compelled me to read it.

"Santa Wore Cowboy Boots" is the same. I cannot wait to read it.

I'm so glad I won a copy. Thanks for being extra-generous.

  5. Talented and generous, too. I just stopped by to tell you that I recently read your story in Storm Country called "Golden Lilacs Under the Worm Moon," and I was so moved! In fact, I read it twice. Donna, what a beautiful and poignant and superbly written story it is. Merry Christmas.

  6. P.S. Sorry, but am compelled to add this. It reminds me of a cross between two of my favorites, Flannery O'Connor and Joyce Carol Oats. So gracefully written. But it's the grace that gives it so much strength. :)

  8. Hi Tammy,

Wow! You made my day. I especially appreciate your compliment knowing what a wonderful writer you are. And to be mentioned in the same sentence with Flannery O'Connor and Joyce Carol has my head spinning.

Flannery O'Connor is one of my all-time favorite short story writers. After reading her short stories and stories written by Katherine Anne Porter during an American Lit class in college, I decided I wanted to focus on writing short rather than longer works.

At times I worry my short stories are too dark because in some way or another death shows itself on my pages. Oh, well, I'm over thinking here. Thanks again, Tammy. Your thoughtful words of praise really mean a lot.

Wishing you a blessed Christmas and a joyful New Year.
