Thanks to everyone who left comments after my post last week about Patricia Stoltey's book, http://patriciastoltey.blogspot.com/, PRAIRIE GRASS MURDERS. I wish I could give copies to everyone who left a comment, but I only have two copies to give away. The names of the winners were picked at random--i.e. folded pieces of paper.
And the winners are: Nancy Cook and Linda O'Connell. Please e-mail me at dvolkenannt (at) charter.net so I can send copies to you. If you weren't a winner, check back later this month. I will have a contest to win another book.
While at Linda's blog I discovered another blog with writing advice for writers: The Blood-Red Pencil. "It is place where you can find "sharp and pointed observations about writing." If you get a chance, check it out.
Today in St. Peters, MO: Partly cloudy, high in the mid-fifties.
Writing advice, publication opportunities, and thoughts on books, language, and life from Donna Volkenannt, winner of the Erma Bombeck Humor Award. Donna believes great stories begin in a writer's imagination and touch a reader's heart.

ReplyDeleteI'm going to get Patricia's book. It sounds so good. Thanks for the review!
ReplyDeleteNifty blog link. Thanks, Donna!
ReplyDeleteHi Donna,
ReplyDeleteI am thrilled! My email is billin7@juno.com. Thank you so much. I hope I'm on a winning streak. I had a parent teacher conference, soothed the minds of two worried parents, and they gave me a lottery ticket. Now that's a first! Happy St. Patrick's Day to you and yours.
Hi Jemi, Karen, and Pat,
ReplyDeleteSorry your names weren't among the winners. The Blood Red Pencil blog is cool, and so is Patricia's book.
Linda,
Congratulations on being one of the winners. I will e-mail you to get your mailing address.

Hi Donna! I don't remember if I even left a comment for this book, but I'm happy for the winners! Great seeing you today, too, by the way!
ReplyDeleteDonna, many thanks for featuring The Prairie Grass Murders in your giveaway and for the kind words.
ReplyDeleteLet my add my congratulations to the winners -- I hope you enjoy the book. There's a sequel, with a travel club of elder ladies and a touristy ghost town in Arizona. "The Desert Hedge Murders" is available now in hardcover, and will be out in a Harlequin Worldwide paperback (available at Harlequin's online store) in September.

Donna, your blog is always so fun and informative. I've been away from "blogland" awhile trying to meet that deadline and deal with other stuff, but I plan to follow your posts more closely again! Thanks for the great blog.
ReplyDeleteDonna,
ReplyDeleteThank you. I received the book today and can't wait to get started on it.
Hi Linda,
ReplyDeleteThat was quick! The woman at the post office was very helpful. I was going to send the package Media Mail thinking it would be less expensive, but she showed me that First Class was cheaper and would arrive quicker. Guess she was right.
